Ajit Rakhra

Controls & Firmware Lead

Why this project? The problem came out of left field for me and wasn’t really on my radar when the team was originally brainstorming. I think that goes for a lot of people, but once I learnt a bit more about it, I realized the gravity and necessity of it: about half the world’s population deals with menopause and the symptoms that come alongside it. That’s a lot of people. Being able to help innovate and push the boundaries of this space to help the women in my life is something I want to do.

Alicia Pan

Electrical Lead & Project Manager + “Graphic Design Is My Passion”

Why this project? After working at Hyivy Health, I learned a lot about how far behind we are when it comes to women’s health. Menopause is like going through puberty again… why is it not talked about? Why are women forced to suffer in silence with underwhelming treatment choices? I want to take an active part in developing a solution to an issue I will one day face.

Howard Dong

Algorithms Lead

Why this project? I strive to develop products that I can be proud of. Using my expertise in algorithm and AI development, developing a device that can positively impact half of the world’s population is very ambitious and simulating for me.

Kavisha Dayarathna

Mechanical Co-Lead, Provider of Swag

Why this project? Although I don’t have any personal experience with menopause, there are multiple women in my life who have gone through it/are currently going through it. Seeing the discomfort they go through, whether it be through menopause itself or the stigma that surrounds it, is very disheartening. Furthermore, menopause is a very understudied area even though it will affect 50% of the population. As an engineer, I have the ability to create something that can help those around me, and the fact that this could help half the world’s population is cause enough for action.

Ryan Seto

Mechanical Co-Lead

Why this project? Something I’m passionate about is developing products that people want to use and care about. My past work experience lies in primarily designing mechanical solutions to mechanisms and manufacturing processes for large internal projects. When I heard about this opportunity, I was excited to tackle this challenging and understudied problem as a way to design a product that improves the lives of half of the world’s population.
